1960’s Historical Fiction

Glory BeGlory Be by Augusta Scattergood
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Well apparantly the 1960’s/Civil Rights Movement is the historical fiction du jour for kids. I loved!!! The Lions of Little Rock and was lukewarm on One Crazy Summer. I felt that Glory Be was a poor cousin of Lions… Glory Be seemed stilted and forced. I couldn’t connect with any of the characters or get a true sense of the angst of this time period. I actually did not even finish this one. I will admit to a certain level of saturation with the topic may have swayed my response.
